Pimsleur Russian Comprehensive 3

Comprehensive Russian III includes 30 additional lessons (16 hrs.), plus Readings, which build upon the language skills acquired in Levels I and Level II. Increased spoken and reading language ability. Level III will increase your vocabulary and grammatical structures and triple your spoken proficiency.

(Note: In order for the Pimsleur Method to work correctly, you must first complete the Level I + Level II language programs before proceeding to the Level III language program.)

• Participate in most informal and some formal discussions on practical, social, and some semi-professional topics
• Form longer sentences while maintaining the target language syntax
• Be understood even by native speakers unused to dealing with foreigners
• Handle increasingly difficult grammatical structures
• Enjoy fluent conversations with a variety of strangers
• Have a near-native accent, and the subtleties of the language will be apparent in your speech
• Read at the same level at which you speak

Our Review of Pimsleur Russian 3

We found the Pimsleur format to be very effective. The lessons go into a lot of detail on important aspects of the language, including correct pronunciation, word stress and typical sentence structures. The lesson contains a lot of repetition, although not in a boring "rote-learning" style, and by the end of the 30 minutes, learners should be very comfortable with that topic.

The lesson format may not be to everyone's liking as there is a lot of emphasis on correct pronunciation. However, the format will be very attractive to those of you who like to have a clear focus on each syllable of words. We certainly found it effective for learning in a way that will lock the vocabulary into your memory.

** Pimsleur now offer all their courses on either CD or MP3 download. You can also download the courses in sections, for example lessons 1-5, 5-10 and so on. This makes it much cheaper to start out and get used to the Pimsleur method before committing to a more comprehensive course.
