How to Date Russian Men

1. Greeting each other for the first time

When Russian men and women greet each other for the first time, it is customary to shake hands - NOT to kiss on the cheek. You should greet a Russian man with a pleasant handshake and look him in the eyes to show that you are open and honest.

2. Your first date

Dress appropriately. If you're in Russia, this means dress smartly, and dress according to where you're going. It's a good idea to make sure you know where he's taking you, so you can plan what you're going to wear.

In Russian society it is usual for a man to bring flowers (especially on a first date), so you should expect this. Also, remember that Russians only give an even number of flowers (like a dozen roses) for funerals, so you can expect to receive an odd number (1,3,7 or 11 are common). 3. Etiquette

In many western societies, the much-needed reforms for equality between the sexes has also resulted in a loss of chivalry and traditional relationships between men and women. In Russian society, however, men still act very much in a chivalrous manner, by opening doors for women, helping them with their coats, and so forth.

As a woman, you should be prepared to be with a man who takes care of his woman in ways such as this. He will appreciate your feminine nature, and your gratitude of his kindness towards you.

4. Money

Ok, this is always a topic of interest!

In many western countries, women are very independent and it is common for them to share the bill. This is not the case in Russia. Russian men ALWAYS pay for their women. This means that a Russian woman will not have to pay for her meal, for instance, if she is out with her husband / boyfriend, as well as her father, brother, and any other male friends.

In marriage, everything is shared. There is no concept of "his money" and "her money" for the majority of Russians. If both husband and wife are working to support the family, then the money is shared however it is needed.

5. Allow him to take care of you

Russian men are used to being in control in their relationships. This doesn't mean women have no say - it means when you're dating Russian men they will take care of everything. They'll organise dinner reservations, choose a good table to sit at, help you with your coat, order the meals for both of you, fill up your glass when it's empty... and so forth.

Again, a typical Russian man will appreciate your feminine nature, by allowing him to take care of you, and showing your gratitude of his kindness towards you.

6. Say it right

The biggest mistake most people make when they're dating Russian men is that they don't take the time to learn Russian. Along with cultural challenges, the language barrier is the single biggest reason why these relationships fail.
