When you first think about dating a Russian woman, it can be very tantalising looking at the profiles of thousands of beautiful young girls on the Russian dating sites. How can you decide who is the girl for you??

• 1. Be realistic about what you are looking for. The thought of being with every beautiful girl in the world is a nice one, but you need to be realistic about exactly what, or more precisely 'who' you are looking for. Make a list of all the qualities that you are seeking in a wife, from her personality to hobbies, or even physical qualities like height if that is important to you. If you want someone who shares your love of travel for instance, then this could be one of the key things you look for when reading the profiles of women you are interested in.

• 2. Read the previous point again, and hold firm! You will be tempted to stray from what you are looking for. Just remember that you're here to meet the woman of your dreams, so don't waste your time and money, and be kind enough not to waste the time of the girls if you are not really interested in them. Stick with your ideal of who you are looking for.

• 3. Follow your instinct. Listen to your 'inner voice' and follow your feelings about the women you see in the profile. After all, they have spent time preparing their profile to represent themselves in a certain way, so you should be able to read between the lines and get some indication of what the girls are really like. Still, only time (and proper correspondence) will tell, so if in doubt just write to her and find out what she's really like.
